A recognized leader in attractions management and customer service, John Anderson joined the Michigan Science Center in 2015. He has contributed to science education in the Detroit area for more than 20 years with positions at the Detroit Zoo and the city of Detroit.
At the Michigan Science Center, John is responsible for strategically managing operations, business practices, financial reports and the organization’s culture. He also guides the institution in creating powerful, hands-on visitor experiences and programs.
As director of operations for the Detroit Zoological Society, John was responsible for leading and overseeing facilities, programs, and experiences. He also served as the manager of park operations for the City of Detroit’s zoological parks department, where he was the first professional Aquarist and initiated STEM programs into classrooms.
John graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in zoology. He has served as a human resource committee member for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), and is a IAAPA Certified Attractions Executive.
John is also a safari photographer and lives in Southfield.
