I’ve been volunteering at the Michigan Science Center since November of 2018. I am a full-time student with a full/part-time construction job. I enjoy volunteering, helping my community, and working with others. I always try to make time to help through volunteering. The Michigan Science Center has been very accepting of me and my schedule. Additionally, the Michigan Science Center always feels like a family and is a fun place to be. I love working with everyone there.
We all are expanding our minds at the Michigan Science Center. The kids are always so interested in learning, and the adults love to come and socialize. Parents love to watch their kids experience the museum and learn new things in new and different ways.
The volunteers and the workers at the Michigan Science Center love working together to teach and to enhance the experience that everyone has when they come. We all work towards making the experience safe as well as optimizing the opportunity to learn. My favorite part of volunteering at the Michigan Science Center is seeing the look on everyone’s face as they experience the different areas of the museum. Knowing that I play a part in putting that look there is really incredible too.
I have volunteered with several different programs in Detroit over the years, each having a different focus. I enjoyed them all; however, Michigan Science Center has been one of my all-time favorites. I want to stay with them for a long time to come.
