ECHO Distance Learning

Visit the Michigan Science Center and join us for a great learning experience without leaving your classroom! Our ECHO program brings live science demonstrations and activities directly to your students over the internet. Whether your class is learning in-seat or remote, ECHO has a program suited for you.

Why ECHO?​

A 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2023-2024 Pinnacle Award recipient, our videoconferencing programs allow you and your students to participate in highly interactive and fun learning in real time. No special hardware is required to bring a virtual visit to your classroom. A connection can be done with a computer, webcam, projector and high speed internet. All you need to do is click a link and the fun begins!

Virtual visits include:
• 45-minute interactive program
• Hands-on materials shipped to your school or library
• Complimentary tech check prior to program

To make a reservation, or ask questions about a program, contact our Outreach team at 313.577.8400, ext. 238, or by emailing ECHO@Mi-Sci.org. 

Reservations should be made at least four weeks in advance to ensure materials can be shipped to your location.  You can also visit the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration to book any of our programs online.

Junior Astronomer

K – 2nd – Turn daytime to night in the virtual planetarium so we can observe patterns in the sky and learn to identify familiar stars and constellations with the help of MiSci’s Celestial Buddies!

3rd Grade & Up – Our most popular program! Why do things explode? Learn about the relationships between pressure, temperature, and fuel to explain why things go KA-BOOM! We’ll mix physics and chemistry to get some loud, flashy effects!

FROSTOLOGY

K – 5th Grade – Jump knee-deep into our wintry virtual visit. Make fluffy snow and sparkling white slime! Learn the science behind all things frosty as we investigate the effects of temperature on atoms and molecules. This seasonal program runs for a limited time – November – March.
