MiSci in the NY Times!

We were mentioned in the New York Times’ article about “Symphony in D”, the adventurous piece of music set to debut this month from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, composed by Tod Machover. This symphony will feature spoken word from our own President and CEO, Dr. Tonya Matthews!

“But in the fourth movement, the orchestra grows quiet as the young students, the older Detroiters, the spoken-word artist Marsha Music, and the writer Tonya Matthews, who moved to Detroit in 2013 to become president and chief executive of the Michigan Science Center, take the stage to share memories, dreams and poems.”

If you are interested in Doc T’s views on how art and science can help create award-winning poetry, click here for more information about her upcoming talk at MiSci, The Perception of Sound, on November 22nd at 2pm.
