Michigan Science Center and 3M Partner to Offer Free General Admission to Public

The event, sponsored by 3M, recognizes how science is improving lives, in more ways than ever.

Detroit, Dec. 20, 2019 – The Michigan Science Center (MiSci) is providing complimentary admission to the public on December 28 to celebrate the advancement of science applications and emerging technologies that improve our daily lives. Sponsored by 3M, general admission to MiSci will be complimentary from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. MiSci and 3M aim to inspire guests to see science in a different light, and how it is increasingly influencing the products and technology that consumers use on a daily basis.

“We are thankful for the benefits that are afforded to us through science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and the impact they collectively have on our society. They are central to all the work that we do at the Michigan Science Center, and we are excited to share our love of STEM with our guests,” said Christian Greer, president and CEO of the Michigan Science Center. “As a STEM hub for the State of Michigan, we are pleased to partner with 3M to make STEM more relevant and accessible to the public and to inspire curious minds of all ages.”

“At 3M, we believe science plays a critical role in children’s lives. It enhances resiliency, supports creative thinking and builds problem-solving skills. Whether experimenting in the lab or at a Michigan Science Center exhibit, science reminds us that growth opportunities are everywhere. We have a tremendous opportunity to help inspire future leaders by nurturing their curiosity at a young age,” said Denise Rutherford, senior vice president, 3M Corporate Affairs.

General admission includes access to 220+ hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, a Smithsonian Spark!Lab, Kids Town, STEM Playground and more. Planetarium and Toyota 4D Engineering Theater tickets will be available for purchase at the box office. The Cosmic Café and newly relocated Science Store will also be open throughout the day.

Free tickets are available for download at mi-sci.org on a first come, first served basis.
