Hands-On Science Activities Bring STEM Learning to Families Indoors and Outdoors
Detroit, Mich., August 12, 2026–The Michigan Science Center (Mi-Sci) welcomes Aramco back for the fourth year to kick off their Traveling Science Program for the 2026-2027 school year. The annual free event takes place outside of Mi-Sci’s main entrance on Wednesday, August 19, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, featuring live science demonstrations and hands-on activities. The first 200 people to arrive will receive free admission inside Mi-Sci for a special day, which includes Traveling Science activities.
The program that began in 2012 has expanded to bring interactive science programs into libraries, schools, and community centers throughout Michigan’s Lower and Upper Peninsulas, Ohio and Indiana. This is part of Mi-Sci’s mission to engage as many people as possible in science. For more than a decade, the Traveling Science program has educated thousands of young people and their families who are curious about science.
“Mi-Sci’s Traveling Science program is designed to connect science to communities by bringing exploration and discovery directly to schools, libraries, and community centers,” said Andrea Harp, Chief of Staff and Director of Impact of the Michigan Science Center. “Thanks to the valued support of Aramco, we can inspire curious minds with interactive STEM experiences and exciting demonstrations. This program truly reflects our mission to put people at the center of science, here in Detroit and across the region.”
In addition to live, interactive science demonstrations outdoors performed by Mi-Sci’s educators from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., hands-on STEAM activities for all ages from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the event will include fun giveaways.
Aramco is an energy and chemicals company with a presence in the Metro Detroit area with its Aramco Research Center-Detroit, located in Novi, developing innovative transportation solutions.
