Aramco Traveling Science Kick-Off at the Michigan Science Center Returns August 22

Hands-On Science Activities Bring STEM Learning to Families Indoors and Outdoors

Detroit, Mich., August 14, 2024– Aramco joins the Michigan Science Center (Mi-Sci) to kick off their Traveling Science Program for the 2025-2026 school year. The annual free event takes place outside of Mi-Sci’s main entrance on Friday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring live science demonstrations and hands-on activities. The first 250 people to arrive will receive free admission inside Mi-Sci for a special day, which includes Traveling Science activities.

To continue celebrating the Aramco Traveling Science Kick-off throughout the day, Mi-Sci will also feature free special programming inside the museum after 12 p.m., featuring ultra-fun, hands-on drop-in workshops and dazzling Discovery Dome planetarium shows—perfect for curious minds of all ages.

The program that began in 2012 has expanded to bring interactive science programs into libraries, schools, and community centers throughout Michigan’s Lower and Upper Peninsulas, Ohio and Indiana. This is part of Mi-Sci’s mission to engage as many people as possible in science. For more than a decade, the Traveling Science program has educated thousands of young people and their families who are curious about science.

“Mi-Sci’s Traveling Science program is designed to meet people where they are, bringing a universe of exploration and discovery directly to schools, libraries, and community centers,” said Dr. Christian Greer, president and CEO of the Michigan Science Center. “Thanks to the generous support of Aramco, we are able to inspire curious minds with interactive STEM experiences. This program truly reflects our mission to put people at the center of science, here in Detroit and across the region.”

Aramco is an energy and chemicals company active in the Metro Detroit area with its Aramco Research Center-Detroit, located in Novi, developing innovative transportation solutions. It is also a founding member of the American Concrete Institute’s Center of Excellence for Nonmetallic Building Materials in Farmington Hills.

In addition to live, interactive science demonstrations performed by Mi-Sci’s educators, the event will also include giveaways for the first 400 attendees.
