Jocelyn Ho is the owner of Rare Plant Fairy, a retail and wholesale plant nursery that grows rare tropical plants. Her plants are sold online and in almost 100 retail shops around the country. Her nursery is located in the city’s east side, in a refurbished truck factory. The 6000ft nursery is full of beautiful unique plants that are sourced from private collections around the world. Some are unique cultivars and hybrids that were created right here in Detroit.
She has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a masters in Speech and Language Pathology. She moved to the US right before Covid and lockdowns prevented her from pursuing her speech therapy degree. Studying the unique needs of rare plants, mostly aroids, is a passion of hers that really took off during Covid and quickly became a thriving business.
