Beat the Heat on the Science Stage
Summer fun is here, and so is the extreme heat of summer activities. It’s time to dive into how to keep ourselves safe, discover what precautions are truth or myth, and find cooler alternatives to maximize fun in the sun. From exposure to ultraviolet rays, celebratory sparklers and combusting explosives, this is a show you (and your local first responders) don’t want to miss!
Catch Beat the Heat on the Science Stage beginning July 31 and continuing through the summer.

July 31: Hometown Heroes
Everyone is invited to join us for Hometown Heroes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 31. This event celebrates the first responders, public health teams and community partners who help make our communities safer, healthier and stronger.
- Live demonstrations showing the science and technology behind safety and emergency response.
- Hands-on activities and interactive experiences with public safety, public health and community partners.
- First responder equipment and public safety technology — featuring police and fire equipment, giving visitors a closer look at the tools used in the field.
